Your memories of your debut for Littleborough?

1991 v Heywood away scored 30 odd no, kept ok and we won the game. I remember Ray Hill getting a couple; a good bloke to play with. Hard your first game at a new club, everyone forming instant opinions and Littleborough is a hard school.

Your favourite game and why?

Great effort to beat Walsden and Rochdale as strong a league side as you will perhaps ever see at the time. Another game I will always remember was Middleton away, we fielded 2nd and were nowhere. My Dad was sat next to Partington from Middleton, my dad accepted we would probably lose. Partington said “never write these off”. We plugged away and won the game…outstanding win/spirit

Your favourite away ground and why?

Walsden, great club, great cricket people and always good in the bar.

The best professional played against?

Dave Callaghan/Asif Mutjaba. Both fantastic players.

The best amateurs played against?

Pete Wilcox, Dave Norris, John Mcauley, Neil Avery.

Favourite on the field memories?

Being part of a winning team. Contributing to the best of my ability, respecting team mates and opponents, sharing a beer win or lose, realising close hand what team spirit and togetherness can achieve.

How about off the field?

Being asked to captain a great club, being successful, helping build a team ethos where everyone knew their job and would die for the cause.

Some of the best amateur cricketers I’ve played with played at Littleborough. Pro bowlers must have been queuing up to play with Brendan and ASB…2 of the finest from any period.

Thanks for the memories.
