Chairman’s Blog – “Many Hands Make Light Work”

 As we all continue to look forward to the ever looming day when competitive cricket returns to Hare Hill, there has never really been a prouder moment for me as Chairman of Littleborough Cricket Club.

Times have been hard for everyone, in one way or another, and we have all had to adapt our lives way beyond what we could have ever imagined we would need to do.

However, even though our beloved Club has been closed for some time now (since 4 November actually), the buzz, atmosphere and feel good factor, around the place, is absolutely amazing. The anticipation of re-opening our doors on the 12 April is significantly apparent, and rightly so.

What a really brilliant ‘family’ of members, players and supporters we have. Young and old have all greatly contributed to improving our facilities, both inside the Club and outside around the ground. This has been amazing to see, especially the camaraderie and commitment shown to all wanting to do more and more to help maintain and improve the fantastic facilities that we have.

It just goes to show that, when we all pull together with the same mind set and ambitions, “many hands do really make light work”.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all those people, from Sponsors, Trustees, Committee members, life members, coaches (and their assistants), players, members and supporters, who, over the past year or so have all demonstrated an amazing commitment and dedication to ensuring that our Club continues to provide valuable and appropriate facilities for the community we serve.

So, what’s happening from now until the start of the cricket season?

Look out for news for our more junior cricketers over the Easter Holidays!

We have the following friendly game CURRENTLY planned at Hare Hill;

This year we will continue our focus on developing cricketers from a very young age by running two ECB approved schemes;

All Stars Cricket (Please Register via our website)

Aimed at those aged 5-8 to continue to improve their cricketing skills or to try them for the very first time.

An 8 week programme taking place on Friday evenings (5pm – 5:45pm) from 7 May to 25 June 2021, led by our qualified coaching staff but that also encourages parents to get involved.

Dynamos Cricket (Please Register via our website)

Aimed at those aged 8-11 to continue to improve their cricketing skills or to try them for the very first time.

An 8 week programme taking place on Wednesday evenings (5:15pm – 6:15pm) from 12 May to 30 June 2021, led by our qualified coaching staff.

So here’s to looking forward to a continued successful season off the field, but more importantly, as competitive cricket now starts, on the field of play for all our cricket teams of all ages.

I know all our cricketers will do their very best to play the game they enjoy to the best of their abilities and within the spirit and laws of the game, so let’s get behind them all and offer our support whenever we can.

Here’s looking forward to a great 2021 season and great times to come!
