We welcome Bacup CC as our latest visitors to Hare Hill. I hope you all have an enjoyable day and that the game ahead is both competitive and played within the ‘spirit of cricket’.
In a week where we have seen the Club, once again, be awarded the very sought after and prestigious ClubMark status from the ECB, be awarded a significant financial grant from Viridor Credits Environmental Company to build a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) and the completion of our current roof and toilet refurbishment work, we also celebrate both our first and second teams topping their respective league tables and our very own legend Clinton Perren reaching the magnificent milestone of scoring a record breaking 20,000 runs for the mighty Boro.
To reach this significant accolade, Clint steered us to victory in our last game, away to Rishton (where he also once Pro’d), with a top score of 84, which included 7 fours and 2 sixes. Clint reaches his record playing cricket as both a professional and an amateur and surpasses our previous amateur only top run scorers; Phil Deakin (17,515) and Chris Dearden (17,930).
What an achievement from such a professional and true gentleman both on and off the field.
On behalf of myself, our current and past Management Committees and loyal cricket supporting members, that have had the pleasure watching you over many years, thank you very much CP for your loyalty, dedication and entertainment.
All great examples of how this Club of ours is currently progressing both on and off the pitch and long may this continue as we constantly build for the future.
So, event wise, what have we got to look forward to? On Saturday 5 November we will once again be hosting our annual community bonfire event for both the young and maybe not so young to enjoy.
This provides me with the opportunity to personally thank today’s match day sponsors; Andrew Kelly & Associates as this very supportive local and well-established business is not only hosting the match sponsorship for today but has also supported this Club in many ways over many years, including providing the magnificent firework displays that you have all enjoyed at our bonfire events in the past.
Thank you very much Andy and Steve, your continued support is very much appreciated.
Further demonstrating that we are a progressive Club, that is always looking to provide new events for our community to enjoy, we have also got our inaugural ice-skating event to look forward to over 3 weeks in December, which is very exciting news. More on this to follow in future Blogs but please look out for our on- line ticketing platform which will be launched and available for you all to book your ice-skating slots, very soon!
