Chairman’s Blog – 22 May 2022

We welcome Crompton CC as our latest visitors to Hare Hill and I hope you all have an enjoyable day and that the game ahead is both competitive and played in the ‘spirit of cricket’.

This game’s Blog focusses on the infrastructure developments that are taking place here at Littleborough Cricket and Sports Club (LCC). As you know, LCC is managed as a not-for-profit organisation, which means that any money that is available, above that needed to continue to provide the facilities and experience that we do, is re-invested into the Club for the benefit of its members and visitors. So how is this achieved?

You will remember from a previous Blog that the Management Committee is responsible for establishing a number of Sub-Committees to ensure that the business requirements of the Club are carried out. Currently the Club has the following three functioning Sub-Committees; Cricket (Seniors & Juniors), Chaired by Mark Whitely; Commercial (Bar, Kitchen, Functions & Social Events), Chaired by David Schofield; and Infrastructure (Buildings & Grounds), Chaired by John Barry.

The Infrastructure Sub-Committee and a significant number of volunteers have been very busy ensuring that any developments the Management Committee approve come to fruition, with as little disruption to our members and visitors, as possible. This development work is also not achievable without our main partner support and in particular, in this area of business, Performance Doorset Solutions Ltd (PDS)

Over recent months the following developments have taken place;

  • Significand ground maintenance and improvements
  • Removal of the pitch side curb to one side of the ground
  • The provision of new essential equipment for our groundsman and volunteers
  • The provision of new cricket equipment including roll on nets, roll on/sheet covers and sight screens
  • Willow room refurbishments
  • New paybox door fitted
  • New inside furniture for the main bar area (including increasing our seating capacity in this area)
  • New outside furniture for the decking and patio areas
  • The installation of playing cameras

Over the next few months, the following developments will also take place;

  • The clubhouse roof will be replaced
  • The gent’s toilets, adjacent to the main bar area, will be completely refurbished
  • Our front and Willow room doors will be replaced
  • Improvements made to the solar panels
  • New signage will be displayed
  • New additional internal and external bi-fold doors will be fitted to the main bar area
  • Additional new inside furniture will be purchased
  • A new scoreboard will be erected and the existing scoreboard re-positioned
  • Access to and the safety of the Steve Bood practice area will be improved.
  • The provision of new cricket equipment for our ladies’ team
  • The provision of a ‘Summer Camp’ for juniors.
