Littleborough met Royton at Hare Hill needing a victory to close the gap on leaders Rochdale. With Simon Brierley and Joe Grant well set, the visitors looked well on course to overhaul the 170 posted earlier by the hosts. Needing only 40 runs from ten overs there only looked one winner.

Miskella was in a mischievous mood with his promptings from the boundary that “they were running out of overs” seemed to “ wake up” visiting professional Grant who was tempted by a bit of flight from Dexter Fitton and holed out to Dearden.

Fitton then continued the same line and from being in a position of relative comfort, Royton went into free fall. Lee Kellythen joined in with the valuable wicket of Brierley snapped up by Whiteley for a valuable 77 and from an apparently safe position Royton were dismissed for 141.

Earlier in the day Littleborough had seemed on course for a large total as Shimwell and Whiteley got them off to the perfect start. Unfortunately Shimwell suffering in the cause, receiving a blow in the hand from a delivery from Grant.

Alan Clarke took the wickets of Dearden 6, Hunter 26 and Hernon 9 to put the brakes on the Boro charge., as Boro totalled 170 and won the game by by 29 runs.
