Littleborough’s hope of returning to the top of the CLL table was scuppered by the weather at a rainy Crimble. Heywood batted first and set a stiff target of 210 for the visitors to chase. , further rain interruptions destined this game to be a draw.
Roberts and Starmer opened the innings but after losing skipper Starmer caught by Gar Hunter off Stephens for 23 Colin Wroe joined Roberts and together put on 123 for the second wicket. Roberts 79 was bowled by Hunter and this sparked a mini collapse. Wroe fell for 67 , Badenhorst 9 and Price 0 was run out without facing a delivery. And Heywood ended on 209-5
Chasing 210 Littleborough got off to the worst possible start as Shimwell 0 fell to Fare. There followed a rain break after which Whiteley 5 departed quickly caught by Price at leg gully. Promising fast bowler Kirby was unlucky not to capture the wicket of Fitton as he was dropped on 28 in the slips.
Badenhorst bowled Fitton 41 and Littleborough asked to come off for bad light but Starmer agreed to remove Badenhorst and Kirby from the attack. Dearden 29 was caught by Badenhorst off Caveney as the visitors slumped to 85-4
Starmer brought back his quick bowlers, as he looked for the win but Littleborough appealed for the light which brought the game to a premature end.
